Fees and Coverage
Many Canadian extended health benefits plans reimburse counselling therapy/clinical counselling/psychotherapy even when the therapist is located in a different province.
In practice, you pay for the session, I issue a receipt with all required details, and you submit it to your benefits plan. If your plan covers therapy with my professional designation, you may receive a partial or full reimbursement, subject to your plan’s limits (e.g., percentage, deductible, annual maximum). It is your responsibility to contact your insurer and confirm reimbursement details.
Direct billing (TELUS Health eClaims)
For select insurers, we can submit claims on your behalf through TELUS Health eClaims, a free, Canada-wide direct-billing service used by many healthcare providers. If your provider only covers our services in this way, we often can bill the insurer directly; otherwise, you’ll pay at the time of service and submit your receipt for reimbursement.
Please select your session price thoughtfully from the choices below.
Each session runs between 50-60 minutes unless otherwise agreed upon.
Tier 1
Intended for those who have been impacted as members of equity-denied communities, those working in essential care professions, disabled, caretakers of others in our society, or those experiencing financial challenges and could use a little support at this time.
Sliding scale: please reach out to discuss
Tier 2
This is the standard session rate. $165.00.
This is for those with a basic level of financial security, have steady employment, own a car or use various modes of transportation, feel comfortable eating at restaurants, etc.
Tier 3
This is my group and family therapy session rate: $190
Please also consider this Tier if you have substantial income and assets and wish to subsidize clients who are struggling.
Tier 4
This is my donation pricing: $250
This rate is for those with successful businesses or investments or who identify as wealthy. I will donate sessions to those who are struggling and could use the support.
I work with 2 clients at any one time on donation. If you are part of an organization that refers clients in need or crisis, please reach out. If I cannot do it, I can refer as I am a member of several groups where therapists donate some time to help those in need/crisis.
Group Plan and Health Coverage for my services
If your Company Benefit Plan does cover therapy services, such as Sun Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield, Claim Secure and others, my suggestion is to first confirm that your insurance includes counselling services from the services of registered counsellors and/or psychotherapy services.
I strongly believe it is imperative to your mental health that you have the option to choose the therapist,, rather than being limited because you may have a benefit plan that contains wording limiting your choice of services.
If this is the case, I can write a support letter. In about half of the situations, the insurance company changes their stance and covers my services.
