Direct billing (TELUS Health eClaims)

For select insurers, I can submit claims on your behalf through TELUS Health eClaims, a free, Canada-wide direct-billing service used by many healthcare providers.

  • If your provider covers services through eClaims, I can often bill the insurer directly.

  • If direct billing is not available or is declined, you will pay at the time of service and submit your receipt for reimbursement.

Extended Health & Insurance Coverage (Canada)

Many Canadian extended health benefits plans reimburse counselling therapy, clinical counselling, or psychotherapy even when the therapist is located in a different province.

In practice:

  1. You pay for the session at the time of service.

  2. I issue a receipt with all required professional details.

  3. You submit this receipt to your benefits plan.

If your plan covers therapy with my professional designation, you may receive a partial or full reimbursement, subject to your specific coverage (e.g., percentage, deductible, annual maximum). It is your responsibility to contact your insurer in advance and confirm your reimbursement details.

Group Plans & Health Coverage for My Services

If your company benefit plan includes coverage for therapy services (e.g., with Sun Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield, ClaimSecure, and others), I recommend that you:

  1. Confirm that your plan includes counselling or psychotherapy services, and

  2. Verify whether it covers registered counsellors and/or psychotherapists with my professional designation.

I strongly believe it is important to your mental health that you have the option to choose your therapist, rather than being limited by restrictive wording in your benefit plan.

If your insurer initially declines coverage for my services based on wording in the plan, I can write a support letter on your behalf. In about half of the situations where I’ve done this, the insurance company has revised its stance and agreed to cover my services.

Consider a donation!

This is intended for those who have successful businesses or investments, or who identify as financially wealthy and wish to contribute to community care.

Your contribution can directly supports clients who are in crisis or experiencing significant financial hardship.

I work with up to two clients at any given time on a donation basis. If you are part of an organization that refers clients in need or in crisis, please reach out.

If I am unable to take someone on personally, I can often refer within several therapist groups where practitioners donate some of their time.
